We offer private drumset, snare drum, hand percussion, and mallet lessons by the finest drummers and percussionists in the Richmond, Virginia area. Our instructors are highly qualified and experienced. Having such highly qualified instructors allows us to accommodate any level of instruction necessary, from beginners to advanced levels.
The quality of instruction is enhanced because both student and teacher sit at individual drum sets during each lesson, allowing for more effective demonstration. We also are the only teaching facility in the Richmond area with a full sized 4 1/3 octave marimba for our mallet lessons.
Private Lessons Rates at Just Drums start at $22.00 for half an hourbut can vary from instructor to instructor. Depending on the type of private instruction needed, rates can be more.
We have four highly qualified instructors onsite and each instructor manages their own schedule and payment arrangements.

Drum Set Instructor
Scott specializes in multiple drumset styles, session and studio work, tuning, and occasional
child psychology. Scott often plays in downtown Richmond at the Tobacco Company and a few other establishments.
Scott has been playing for over 28 years and teaching for over 14 years. Scott currently teaches Monday
through Thursday at Just Drums.
Drum Corp, Classical Percussion, Hand Percussion Instructor
Chris Thomas holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan University and a Master of Music in Performance from Northwestern University. He is also state-licensed to teach K-12 instrumental music.
Chris has over 28 years of experience teaching private lessons, high school/university marching and
concert percussion groups. His performance experience includes several professional orchestras, jazz groups, musicals and
as a clinician. Chris teaches Snare/Drumset; Mallets; Marching and Latin Percussion. Chris also teaches at Midlothian
High School and Longwood University. Chris currently teaches at Just Drums Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Over 20 years of playing experience with 14 years of teaching. Adam is a busy, working musician - constantly performing
or recording with multiple local bands. He often plays at The National, The Canal Club, and other popular venues.
Adam is highly experienced with many drumset styles and fundamental snare
drum techniques. Adam currently teaches at Just Drums Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Michael Auman is a Richmond native born into a music loving family. He marched 2 years with The Crossmen
Drum and Bugle Corps and has been a scholastic educator & composer/arranger for 10 years with great success at
the competitive level of indoor and outdoor marching percussion. He is also one of few accomplished gigging
timpanists in Central Virginia.
Michael is an accomplished musician and educator. He currently teaches private students in the West End and teaches at
Mills E. Godwin High School and Pocahontas Middle School as the percussion instructor.
